Too often we focus our goals on outcomes. The only thing we can control is our effort.
So before your next match, try setting these five performance goals:
1. I'm going to serve at least 50 percent on my first serves.
2. I will hit high percentage returns that put pressure on my opponent to extend the rally.
3. At the net, I will poach at least once every game.
4. I'm going to hustle after every ball so I am in a balanced position and ready to swing before the ball arrives.
5. On every short ball, I'm going to hit an approach and join my partner at the net. As you play with performance goals, you'll discover that the quality of your game typically improves.
